SAFE AND SOBER GRAD NIGHT – 2010 SIR FRANCIS DRAKE HIGH SCHOOL 415.453.0883 / 415.258.0223-fax Your senior’s last year of high school will be a whirlwind – it will culminate in Drake’s annual tradition: Safe and Sober Grad Night at the Osher Marin JCC the night of graduation (Friday, June 11, 2010, 9pm to 3:30am). The grads are bused from Drake’s parking lot to the JCC where professionals (dj, magician, tattoo artists, hair stylists, hypnotist and more…) provide entertainment in addition to swimming, food & socializing with peers. Over 90% of prior grads chose to celebrate together – the hope is ALL 2010 graduates will participate in this safe environment. Each grad’s family is asked to contribute $100. Family contributions and the budget have stayed the same the last 4 years, and the grad night committee makes every effort to be cost conscious. We’re at a disadvantage this year as Terra Linda won’t be able to partner with us since their grad night changed – consequently, we’re losing some discounts but will adjust the budget & cut elsewhere. While the Drake community is very supportive with donations (money and food), each grad’s family contribution assists with the JCC rental, insurance, buses, and entertainment – deposits have already been requested by vendors. --No grad will be turned away if money is an issue...scholarships available-- Grad Night involves the usual parent volunteers – however, the annual event remains relatively the same, and there are great guidelines from prior years. Planning gets going in January with email the preferred communication to save costs. Information will be in the Drake News & updated on this website.
If you are not familiar with Grad Nite, it is a very popular Drake tradition – the majority of the Class of 2010 will attend, though at this point the kids can’t imagine committing to something in June 2010. Check the "Who's Attending" link to see those already signed up. Because of the many senior obligations in the Spring (prom, senior trip, senior breakfast, etc.), please consider sending your $100 contribution now – or $25 installments each of the next four months…early contributions assist with rental deposits.
